When it comes to fitness, the word that often comes to mind is “self-discipline”. The word “self-discipline” seems to be equated with perseverance, patience and rigor, and often conjures up images of clenched teeth and painful expressions. But is it possible to be happy in fitness, and does self-discipline have to be very hard on yourself?

Kara, a fitness coach, believes that empathy is even more crucial. Just as you wouldn’t ask a child to run fast on the first day they learn to stand, adults need to be empathetic with themselves – it’s possible to get fit and healthy with patience, without ridicule or self-doubt, and in a happy, relaxed, positive and encouraging community. Kara wakes up at 4:40 a.m. and is sure to show up every day to lead her students in their workouts. As a fitness coach, she continues to work out every day, both for herself and her students, and this is her 18th year in Guangzhou.

When she was 20 years old, she became a fitness coach because of her love for sports and fitness. After coming to Guangzhou for a few short months to work as an English teacher, she was even more determined to do what she wanted to do in the future – to make fitness coaching a lifelong career and encourage more people to stay healthy. Most of the time, people fail at their exercise goals because they do not have the proper amount of willpower or they simply do not know what to do. This article provides ways that you can make exercise more fun, which will help you see better results.

Music is helpful to listen to while working out. When you have music on, your body instinctively moves to the beat. It is natural for people to respond to music. You will feel like you are in a club dancing when listening to music you love, which will make your routine a lot more fun. You don’t even realize how tired you are from the workout because you are getting so much enjoyment out of “dancing.” Music is an excellent way to increase your workout time without even realizing you are exercising.

You will find that exercise is a lot more enjoyable if you have someone to work out with you. Working out with friends can be far more rewarding that just liking their status updates on Facebook. Use your exercise routine to meet your social needs, too. This will make the time go by faster, and you will forget about exercising. That is what your friends are for.

To break up the monotony, try using exercise videos. Always have a number of different videos on hand so things don’t get tedious. If you find music that inspires you or pumps you up, you can get more energy to continue working out while having fun.

Certain articles of clothing will accent your best physical features. Make it a point to purchase these. This is a great way to keep yourself motivated in the beginning of a workout routine. Workout apparel and gear come in every style, color, and pattern imaginable, so you can express yourself and have a unique fitness wardrobe. Therefore, it is easy to select a creative outfit to exercise in. Choosing exercise clothes that make you feel good will make you want to work out.

Prevent yourself from falling into a rut caused by completing the same routine on a daily basis. If you become bored or you don’t see the exercise as being fun any more, then you will be more prone to quit. Mixing things up will help you maintain your enthusiasm. Try new routines or switch up your music. Keep your eyes open for new workouts that you can try.

Once you have accomplished your goal, treat yourself. The reward you choose doesn’t have to be something elaborate; you may be motivated by something small and simple. Get yourself something you have been wanting: a book, a CD, or a very special dark chocolate bar. Choose something that you really have been wanting to do. Selecting something that will benefit your fitness will help act as a motivating reward.

Exercising can be interesting if you plan it out correctly. There are numerous ways to transform a workout into a fun activity. Give some consideration to the following ideas as you begin creating your workout plan.
