I’ve discussed the importance of training in multiple modalities. In this video, I address what those modalities are and suggest some major “pillars of fitness.”
I think that everyone should be strong, mobile, mentally agile, and aerobically fit. Further, each of these pillars of fitness can be broken down. We should seek to develop max strength *as well* as explosive strength. Aerobic endurance AND anaerobic endurance.

You won’t notice yourself getting tired, and you’ll have longer and more effective workouts.

Buy workout clothes that make you feel good about yourself. When you have something new and exciting to wear, you may find increased motivation. Choosing what colors and styles you want will be so much fun. New workout clothes will really make you want to move.

It is easy to get bored with the same workout day after day. If you hate your workout routine, you will get bored and give up. To keep yourself more motivated, try to change your workout routine on a regular basis. Keep yourself interested in your workouts. When you take a break it may be difficult to start again.

Once you meet a weight loss goal, reward yourself. The reward you choose doesn’t have to be something elaborate; you may be motivated by something small and simple. One thing you can try is getting a new book or maybe a chocolate bar. Pick something that can be attained easily, but is also a bit of a splurge for you. The reward needs to be meaningful to you. Otherwise, it won’t have any motivational value.

Exercising can be a fun way to spend some time. It should not be something that you hate to do. Exercise offers tremendous opportunity for variety. This article contains some useful advice to help you start to develop an enjoyable exercise regime.
